"Kissling now uses ANSYS Workbench to simulate complex structures"

In order to analyse structures that cannot be designed using analytical calculation methods, Kissling now employs finite element software from ANSYS. The finite element method divides a structure into small regular bodies, such as tetrahedra or cubes. The program numerically calculates the displacements in the corners of the tetrahedrons/cubes from the boundary conditions at the macrostructure. Forces, stresses and elongation can be derived and interpreted from these simulated displacements.

As an example, the influence of the macrostructure – the twisting of the planetary carrier under load – on the helical position of the planetary gearing was calculated and evaluated. The numerical method is an excellent addition to the existing analytical tools and works hand in hand with them to continue ensuring the proven Kissling quality."
